How I got here
Electrical engineering trained me to care about measurement and repeatability. I worked in semiconductor manufacturing as an equipment engineer, using statistical process control to predict tool failure on the machines that make chips. That mindset shows up here too: the number on the screen should mean what it says it means.
Why this site exists
I built an early version of this typing test years ago, mostly out of frustration. The tests I was trying buried the actual test under popups, autoplay videos, "create an account to save your results," and ads that shifted the page right as the timer started. The test itself felt like the secondary product — bait for the rest.
So I built the one I wanted to use: it starts immediately, stays still while you're typing, and doesn't ask you for anything before you see your score. It runs well on Chromebooks too, which matters because schools use it — some teachers share it through Google Classroom.
That early version sat dormant for years. I came back to it in 2026 and rebuilt it from scratch.
What's next
A keyboard tester is up next. A small typing game is a longer-term stretch goal.
